Treat yourselves in country house style
Outside steps lead to the wide front door of this exquisite first floor holiday home in what would have been the Tallet of this ancient building, where vaulted, beamed ceilings add startling character to the spacious accommodation. Whilst the ‘antique’ feel has been retained, every modern convenience has been sympathetically installed to make your visit truly comfortable, as well as memorable.
Owl’s Roost is designed for couples seeking comfort, space and that authentic country house feel. The bedroom features a truly stunning carved king size four poster, complemented by other antique furniture. The main room includes a mahogany dining suite, Chesterfield sofa and a comprehensively equipped kitchen.
The spacious bathroom boasts a deep freestanding bath, separate shower and twin basins. They’re all standing on a solid elm floor recovered from the 300-year-old shooting lodge of a local estate. You’re literally walking on history.
Owl's Roost was recently refurbished and re-modeled.

Your cottage
Now designed to accommodate only couples, this luxurious suite offers a quality environment beyond the expectations of even the most discerning self-catering guest.
Atop the small external flight of stone steps, the original wide barn door gives way to the stunning central lounge with its high vaulted ceilings and heavy structural beams, once the roost for the barn owls after which it is named, where cigar-brown leather Chesterfield sofas wait to cosset you in front of the Flat-Screen Smart TV. Behind you a beautiful mahogany dining suite complements the refurbished kitchen with new appliances and solid oak worktops, polished vintage pine floorboards reclaimed from a local church, sadly being demolished after 150 years of service.
The laundry ante-room leads you to the stunning vintage bathroom, where modern ceramic-ware stands upon on historic solid elm floor recovered from the shooting lodge of a 300 year old local country estate. To produce boards of this size those elm trees might well have been growing during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the First.
Beyond the lounge the spectacular bed-chamber awaits with it's heavily carved mahogany king size four poster bed.Officers mahogany campaign chests serve as bedside cabinets and carved low-boys flank the ornamental antique double wardrobe, still displaying some of the original textile door lining ……and…….look closely to notice the fragments of antique wallpaper applied by a well intentioned (if misguided) Edwardian artisan, that we felt compelled to retain for posterity.
These are but some of the treasures that await your enjoyment on your memorable visit to Owl's Roost.
